
Saline Bobcats Varsity defeated Castor Tigers 10-9 on Monday thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at nine with Saline batting in the bottom of the seventh when Jacob Jones singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Saline earned the victory despite allowing Castor to score five runs in the fourth inning. #25 and #44 each had RBIs in the big inning.
The Bobcats took an early lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Saline. After the Tigers scored one run in the top of the sixth, the Bobcats answered with one of their own. Castor scored when #52 singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. Saline then answered when Hunter Laborde singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
Shawn Staggs got the start for Saline Bobcats. The righty went five innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out seven.
#18 was on the hill for Castor. He allowed eight hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out eight. #25 threw one-third of an inning in relief.
Saline totaled 11 hits in the game. Jones, Laborde, and Staggs each racked up multiple hits for Saline. Jones led Saline with three hits in four at bats. The Bobcats stole 14 bases during the game as five players stole more than one. Jones led the way with four.
Castor tallied nine hits on the day. #44 and #25 each managed multiple hits for Castor. #44 led Castor with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.
