Standing Room Only as School Board Discusses Mask Mandate for Upcoming School Year – Video Attached

The Bienville Parish School Board held its regular meeting at 6:00 p.m., July 1, 2021.

Due to the large number of people who were present at the meeting to discuss whether or not teachers and students would be required to wear masks during the upcoming school year, an item which was not on the original agenda, the board members voted unanimously to add it to the agenda.

Item No. 6 on the agenda was to consider revisions to employees’ salary schedules.  The legislature recently passed annual raises for teachers of $800 and for support workers of $400.  The Bienville Parish School Board voted unanimously to increase that amount to a total of $1100 for teachers and $550 for support workers.  Those in attendance applauded the board’s decision.
