DOTD to Convert Intersection of LA 155 & LA 507 to Four-Way Stop

If you drive between Ashland and Coushatta on Highway 155, be aware that beginning Monday you will have to make a stop at the Martin intersection.  Police are sure to be out writing tickets to drivers who fail to stop at the new stop signs.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that the intersection of LA 155 and LA 507 in the Village of Martin in neighboring Red River Parish will be converted from a two-way to a four-way stop.

This intersection change is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 13, 2021 with new signage and striping. This work will be performed, weather permitting.

This change comes after a request to study the intersection for possible safety improvements. Based on the results, it was determined that it would be appropriate to convert the intersection to a four-way stop to improve safety.

As a reminder, when approaching a four-way stop, the first vehicle to arrive has the right-of-way. However, motorists should always yield to approaching emergency vehicles.

When two vehicles arrive at the same time, the vehicle to the right has the right-of-way.

When two vehicles approach at the same time head-to-head and one is turning, the vehicle going straight has the right-of-way. In the same scenario, if one vehicle is turning right and one is turning left, the right turning vehicle has the right-of-way.
