For many months, people have talked about getting a Dollar General Store in Saline.  Rumors also persisted that the land had been surveyed for such a store.  The rumors are true.  

On February 22, HP Investments LLC, who owns the Dollar General Store franchise, purchased approximately 2 acres from an 86.68 acre plot of land from Ms. Wanda Hood.  (The 86.68 plot is shown below in green). The property is located on Highway 155 just outside of Saline.  The land was recently surveyed by Jeffrey M. Messinger, PLS, of Messinger & Associates, Inc. of Bastrop, Louisiana. 

I spoke with Ms. Hood about the land sale and new store.  She explained that although some people like it and some don’t, she thinks it will be a great help to everyone.

The new store will be built at the corner of Rogers Road in between the Saline High School baseball field and Morning Star Baptist Church.  (See video below)
