Candidates Running for Office Now Required to Provide Valid Email Address

Governor Edwards recently signed ACT 35 into law which requires that a candidate qualifying for public office SHALL provide an email address on the notice of candidacy.

The previous law left email as an optional provision. That is no longer the case effective May 17, 2022.

Clerk of Court Eddie Holmes said, “If you plan to qualify for office this summer, make sure you have an email address that you want part of public record!”
