Saline Marathon Runner Wins First in Age Group at Hope Watermelon 5k State Championship

On Saturday, August 13, hundreds of runners from several states participated in the Hope Watermelon 5K State Championship.  Saline marathon runner Don Brown did more than participate in the run, he won first place in his age division.  At 74 years young, Mr. Brown completed the 5K run in 25 minutes 13.99 seconds, which is a pace averaging 8.08 per mile.  In addition to winning his age group, Mr. Brown beat all of the male competitors who were 60 years old or older except for the senior masters winners.

Mr. Brown is scheduled to compete in two races this coming Saturday, one in the morning and one in the evening.  Good luck this weekend.
