BBQ enthusiasts competed at first-ever ‘BBQ Throwdown’ in Arcadia

Three Bienville Parish locals – Mario Jefferson, Tyrone Roberson and Jeffery Sampson- came together to host the first-ever “BBQ Festival Throwdown” last Saturday, April 15, in the Historical Downtown Arcadia.

Roberson said, “The event was very nice. We had great food and fellowship.”

BBQ enthusiasts traveled to Jefferson Henderson Park to participate in three categories – ribs, chicken and brisket.

Minden Rocks took home 1st place in the ribs and chicken categories. T&J Catering won the brisket category and overall grand champion title.

A portion of the proceeds raised from the BBQ Festival were donated to Arcadia Parks and Recreation.

Roberson said, “We want to do something for our young kids and give back to our community. The proceeds can help them with uniforms and pay some fees for them. We are just trying to do what we can for kids.”

They are hoping to make this an annual event for the Town of Arcadia and will be coming back next year bigger and better.
