Two Shreveport women were arrested Tuesday evening for allegedly shoplifting at a Ruston business.
Ruston Police responded to the Ulta Beauty store on the North Service Road regarding a shoplifting complaint. The store manager said two women took multiple items from the fragrance section without paying. The manager said the two suspects had just left in a silver Mitsubishi Gallant with a temporary license tag.
Area agencies were notified to watch for the suspect vehicle.
The manager said she recognized the two from a similar theft one or two days prior to the Tuesday incident. The manager said one of the suspects had a distinctive tattoo on her arm which officers observed on video footage of the incident.
While officers were still at the store, the Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office reported deputies had stopped the suspect vehicle. A RPD officer went to the location on Interstate 20 and contacted Kiara Wiggins, 18, of Shreveport. Wiggins admitted to taking about 10 items from the fragrance section of the store. She said the items were on the front passenger side of the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle, Shaerica Arthur, 25, of Shreveport admitted having stolen several items from Ulta.
The items, valued at about $1,300, were taken as evidence by police. The two women were booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for theft of property over $1,000 and theft of property over $2,000 for the alleged previous shoplifting incident.
