In 2021, gun violence grew rapidly in my community so I started an Adopt A Son Mentoring program for young men and am currently active today. With my extensive community service and experience being an elected official & community advocate. I am ready to serve as your next State Representative for District 11.

DeAndre’s Platform

“Education is the key to the future.”

This is a great, yet a challenging time. For 15 years as an Educator, I have seen the needs first hand. Our teachers and students need resources, after school programs, mentoring programs to help enhance the education in our communities and schools. Support our educators by giving them the pay and dignity they deserve, resources for our schools, ensuring that teachers, teachers’ aides, and everyone who supports our children at school, from the bus drivers to the secretaries to the school nurse and resource officers. All who answer a call to serve our children. For so many young people, knowing they have a teacher and school community believing in and fighting for them can make all the difference in District 11. We have great schools in this District.

HealthCare for All

We have a moral responsibility to guarantee affordable and high quality healthcare as a human right. No one should be denied healthcare because they cannot afford it. I will continue to fight for Medicaid Expansion and to ensure that all Louisianans have the right to healthcare in our state. Making sure our seniors are able to afford their medicines as we know meds are out of control. Ensure that the Louisiana Department of health does all it can to ensure that Medicaid is given to all who qualify.

Continue to fight for our Elderly in our District 11

Our elders have contributed their lives and livelihoods into building up our schools, our churches, and our communities. Too many of our older residents and elderly loved ones are not receiving the proper care to live their lives to the best of their ability due to financial constraints or familial hurdles. Our aging elders deserve more than they have received and we need committed funding for our older residents to have places to gather and congregate. I will continue to be an advocate for the elderly and ensure they receive the proper care.
