The Castor Tigers and Lady Tigers came home with Top 10 team finishes in the Ochsner Health LHSAA State Championships at Northwestern State in Natchitoches on Monday morning. The Tigers had an overall eighth place in the boys’ team competition. The Lady Tigers finished in tenth in the Division V in race. Kailey Ann Shirley was an individual medalist finishing in 10th overall in the Division V competiton.
The Tigers top runner was Hayden Carmouche who finished the race in 29th with a time of 19:14.56. Dakota Ryder was the second Tiger to cross the finish line in 51st. Landon Cross, Benjamin Warren, and Seth Pickett rounded out the scoring for Castor. Brenden Cox and Danny Weaver each participated for the Tigers.
Kailey Ann Shirley medaled for the second consecutive year. Last year she finished in 9th place, this year she finished 10th in 21:24.24. Jenna Braggs was the second Lady Tiger to finish the race in 50th overall. Kimberlynn Short, Mazzalyn Sullivan and Elizabeth Harvey all added points for Castor. Avery Jordan also raced for Castor.
Ringgold’s Ariel Gant finished the Division IV in 99th place. Gant gave the Lady Redskins a return to the State Meet after a year’s absence.
