The second classification meeting occurred on Tuesday and the second district classification was released by the LHSAA. Ringgold was one of ten appeals to their districting that was heard.
When the first draft of the districts had been released, Ringgold was set to move districts to District 3-A which included Lakeview in Campti, St. Mary’s in Natchitoches, LaSalle in Olla, Montgomery, Logansport, and Northwood-Lena in Lena. The Redskins would have been moved away from a district that had a local parish team in Arcadia.
Principal Marchello Gates went to the LHSAA district meeting to appeal for the school to move back to District 1-A. The appeal was approved as the second draft now has moved Ringgold to District 1-A with Arcadia, Homer, Haynesville, Plain Dealing, Cedar Creek, Lincoln Prep, and Glenbrook.
Other schools in Bienville Parish stayed in their newly assigned districts. Castor will remain in 1-B along with Doyline, Weston, Quitman, and Simsboro. Saline and Gibsland-Coleman will be District 1-C with Summerfield and Family Community.
