Parish Clerk of Court shares unsolved mystery

Following a mysterious caller contacting the Bienville Parish Clerk of Court inquiring about the location of a specific grave, so the caller could have flowers put on it, the clerk shared the unsolved mystery regarding the person buried in that plot.

History lies all around, waiting to be discovered. Every person, place, and thing has a story to tell. Some times not a happy one. In the far back corner of Arcadia cemetery lies the grave of Deborah Ann Wolfe.

Deborah died under mysterious circumstance in Fayetteville, NC, on December 26, 1985. Often referred to as “the woman in the barrel,” her disappearance and death was featured in two episodes of the television show Unsolved Mysteries.

While the official report rules her death an accident, and the records long since purged from police archives, the case remains in question to this day.

How did she come to be buried in the quiet, back corner of our local cemetery?

Her mother, after demanding Deborah be exhumed for a 2nd autopsy, was so distraught over the handling of the case, moved to Bienville Parish and laid her daughter in her final resting place.
