BPSB celebrate School Board Member Recognition Month

January is recognized as School Board Member Recognition Month, a time to honor the commitment of school board members. During the Jan. 8 Bienville Parish School Board member meeting, Superintendent Leroy Hamilton read a special resolution to highlight the occasion. This designation acknowledges the efforts and dedication of school board members in serving Bienville Parish Schools. Their work is crucial to shaping students’ educational experiences and supporting teachers, faculty, and staff. Such recognition helps celebrate their important role in the community and their impact on the future of education.

As requested by the Louisiana School Boards Association, the LSBA Code of Conduct for Louisiana School Board Members was also adopted at the Jan. 8 regular meeting.

Bienville Parish school board members were recognized for the number of continuing learning units they earned in 2025. As required by Louisiana Law, school board members are required to attain six (6) continuing education hours and one (1) hour of ethics training, along with online trainings on Cybersecurity, Sexual Harassment, and Special Education. All hours earned by school board members are verified through LSBA. As required by ACT 705, the following continuing learning unit hours were certified at the January 8, 2026, board meeting by way of Board Action. Any board member who voluntarily receives twenty or more continuing learning units is recognized by LSBA as a Certified Board Member.
