100 Years Ago in Bienville Parish – Widow Died at Husband’s Funeral

On April 16, 1921, the Shreveport Journal reported that James Warren “Jim” Strother died from liver cancer at the age of 64 on April 1, 1921.  His funeral was held the following day at Old Saline Baptist Church and burial was in the Old Saline cemetery near Saline.  During Jim’s graveside service, his widow, Cynthia Louisiana “Lou” Robinett Strother, “dropped dead” at his grave.  She was 62 years old.  No cause of death was given in the article.
