Yesterday, Clerk of Court Eddie Holmes explained that “Our parish has one of the LOWEST rates of internet access in the State. Over 60% of us do not have access to broadband style internet. Without high speed internet, our residents will fall further behind the curve in many aspects of social economics. Our children will need reliable, high speed internet to work, learn, inform and entertain themselves in coming decades. Contact your local officials and tell them that we have to improve internet access throughout Bienville Parish.”
The Police Jury has been working to improve our parish’s internet. During at least two police jury meetings, representatives of different internet companies presented information about their companies to the police jury.
District 4 Police Juror Jerry Bates said, “It’s not politics at the PJ [Police Jury] level. It may be higher up but I promise I am doing everything I can do to represent all of Bienville Parish for reliable and affordable high speed internet. I am including myself because I have had the Hughes net etc., and paid a lot for nothing.”
If you are dissatisfied with your local internet capabilities, you can contact Public Works Commissioner Foster Campbell by clicking here.
