The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that on Monday, March 14 and Tuesday, March 15, 2022, the Railroad Crossing at LA 154 between I-20 and US 80 in Bienville Parish will be closed.
One concerned Journal reader commented, “This is one of the major concerns now that the Sparta Bridge is out of service. With the railroad crossing all Gibsland residents are forced to use Highway 80 to get get to interstate 20. There should be a sign blocking Gibsland exit and signage in Arcadia and Taylor exit warning motorist to get off exit before getting to Gibsland exit. All they can do at that point is turn around get back on interstate and come around to 80.”
This closure is scheduled to take place from 7:00 am Monday, March 14, 2022 through 5:00 pm Tuesday, March 15, 2022. This closure is necessary to allow contractors to replace the tracks at this location.
Alternate Route: Northbound traffic, US 80 west to I-20 east, entrance ramp 55. Southbound traffic, I-20 west entrance ramp 61 to US 80 east, exit 55.
