100 Years Ago in Bienville Parish – Five Parish Prisoners Transferred to Penitentiary

On March 14, 1922, Sheriff John Curry and Jim Boddie left Arcadia en route to the penitentiary in Baton Rouge with five prisoners.  Those transferred included the following:

  • W.O. Daniel, sentenced to 1 year on a charge of concubinage;
  • Gertrude Martin, co-offender with W.O. Daniel, received a sentence of 3 months;
  • Pompey Jiles, Louis Dick, and Fred Region, who pled guilty to a charge of hog stealing, received a sentence of 1 year each “in the pen.”
