
The annual Bienville Parish Track Meet was held last Wednesday at Gibsland-Coleman High School. Gibsland-Coleman took top honors in a close 110-101 contest with Castor Lady Tigers. The boys’ contest was also close between the two schools with Castor having the edge at 94-86.
Gibsland-Coleman Lady Bulldogs claimed the title with 110 points. Ke’Honesty Williams dominated the 100 m and 200 m dash. Williams also took gold with fellow 4 x 100 relay teammates Samora Sampson, Shamaria Durham, and Baleigh Haulcy winning by over 2 1/2 seconds. Sampson also earned two individual wins in the 100 m hurdles and 300 m hurdles. Taraji Allen won the 1600 m run by almost 5 seconds. Shamaria Durham took second place in the 100 m dash. Jordan Allen finished second in the 300 m hurdles. The Lady Bulldogs 4 x 400 relay finished as runner-up. Williams and Sampson also took home silver medals in the long jump and triple jump, respectively. Destiny Hardy grabbed runner-up in the high jump.
Castor Lady Tigers finished in second place with 101 points. Castor dominated the throw competitions. Jalexia Caldwell won both the long jump and the triple jump. Melayah Rogers took home the crown in the shot put. Rogers also finished second in the discus. Hannah Woodard grabbed third in the discus. Kaylyn Long took top honors in the javelin throw. Ambree Collinsworth finished second in the javelin. Anna Kate Myers won the pole vault. Alexis Ammons finished second in the pole vault. Timeria Gray took home bronze in the shot put. Kaydence Hinds also finished third in the high jump. In the racing portion, Farrah McKissack and Jenna Braggs finished 1-2 in the 800 m run. Hayleigh Johnson finished third in the 1600 m run. The Castor 4 x 400 relay took first place.
The Arcadia Lady Hornets finished third with a strong performance in the running events. Akylah Tibbs took first place in the 400 m run. DeAsia Alexander finished second behind Tibbs. Jakyria Cockerham finished second in the 200 m dash. Cockrrham also finished third in the 300 m hurdles. Zymerria Banks finished third in the 200 m behind Cockerham. Milayah Jenkins took silver in the 1600 m run. London Bell had a strong performance in the 100 m hurdles. All three Lady Hornet relay teams medaled. The Arcadia 4 x 200 won by over two seconds. The 4 x 100 relay team took second place. The 4 x 400 took third. Demya Harris took the sole non-running medal for the lady Hornets by winning the discus competition.
Saline’s Georgia Robinson finished with second place in the 100 m hurdles. Ce’Nada Weathers took runner-up in the shot put. Alana Gray took back two third places in the 100 m dash and long jump. Skylar Hough took bronze in the 800 m run.
Ringgold took points from their relay teams. The Lady Skins 4 x 200 placed second while the 4 x 100 took third. Nataysha Gray took home the lone Ringgold gold medal.
The Castor Tigers won the Boys’ competition with 94 points. Landyn Crow helped by winning three competitions. Crow won the 800 m run, 1600 m run, and pole vault. Austin Cooper took top honors in the 400 m dash. Jamarion Clark won the high jump for the Tigers. Clark also finished second in the triple jump. Dawson Wood took first in the shot put. Caden Bryan won the javelin throw. Caleb Shirley finished second in the javelin. Talyn Layfield brought home third in the 1600 m run. Seth Pickett finished runner-up in the pole vault. The 4 x 400 relay took home first place.
Gibsland-Coleman finished second with 86 points. The Bulldogs won three events. Demarcus Durham won the boys’ 100-meter dash. The 4 x 200 relay team took top honors. Michael Woodford won the triple jump competition. Woodford also took runner-up in the 300 m hurdles and long jump. Jakobe Stevens finished second in the 400 m dash and third in the high jump. Devery Moore grabbed a runner-up in the 110 hurdles. Carlos Rudolph finished behind Moore in third on the 110 hurdles. Rudolph also finished third in the 200 m dash. Malik Loud grabbed a bronze in the discus throw. The relay teams medaled in all three races. The 4 x 200 team won the competition. The 4 x 400 finished second. The 4 x 100 team finished third.
Saline Bobcats took third with 63 points. Saline won two competitions. Ethan Roberts took the discus competition with 89-05 and won by four feet. Roberts also took bronze in the shot put. Maddox Williams was the sole competitor in the 3200 m run. Williams also finished second in the 1600 m run. Trenton Ledbetter finished second in the 800 m run. Delonte Rager finished second place in the high jump. Titus Jackson reached third place in the 400 m dash. Titus Malone took third place in the triple jump. Irlene Venzant finished second place in the shot put. Treyvon Colvin gave the Bobcats a third-place finish in the javelin. The Bobcat’s 4×400 relay team finished third.
Ringgold’s Keesean Johnson had a big day for the Redskins. Johnson won the 200 m dash and long jump along with finishing second in the 100 m dash by 0.01 second. J’bari Adams also brought the first-place medal back to Ringgold in the 300 m hurdles. Ladaunte McCoy took runner-up behind Johnson in the 200 m dash. Tyrin Cunningham finished 0.02 seconds behind first in the 100 m dash and 0.01 behind second-place Johnson. Trevor Williams took third place in the long jump. The Redskins relay teams medaled in two of the three races. The 4 x 100 relay team won their race. The 4 x 200 took the runner-up spot.
Arcadia finished fifth in the team competition. Omarion Carr took the sole first-place finish for the Hornets in the 110 m hurdles. Dmitri Carr II’s discus throw finished in second place. Jeremiah Crane finished third on the 300 m hurdles. Jayson Crane gave the Hornets four points with a third-place finish in the 800 m run. The 4 x 100 relay team medaled in second place. The 4 x 200 finished in third.
