Memorial Day: Veterans Museum Dedication Ceremony

The Shady Grove Recreation District of Bienville Parish in Saline will be hosting a Veterans Museum Dedication Ceremony on Memorial Day, May 27. 

The ceremony is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the recreation center with Armed Forces Posting of Colors followed by a tour of the museum. 

A free luncheon will take place after the ceremony inside the gymnasium and will feature keynote speaker- the Honorable Walter E. May, District Judge for Division A. Gold star family members of the 13 soldiers from Bienville Parish who were killed in the Vietnam War will also be honored.

Those veterans include Sargent Raymond Henry Gray with the U.S. Army from Saline, Specialist Four Jerry Wayne Peoples with the Army from Saline, Private 1st Class John Roy Thompson with the Army from Saline, Corporal Ray Lee Jackson with the Army from Lucky, Technical Sergeant Ivan Preston Whitlock with the Airforce from Gibsland, Chief Master Sergeant Charlie Sherman Poole with Airforce from Gibsland, Sergeant First Class Melvin Earnest Davis with the Army from Saline, Private Ronnie Brice with the Army from Arcadia, Petty Officer 1st Class Jeider Jackson Warren with the Navy from Castory, Private 1st Class Joe Jefferson Brackens with the Army from Castor, Sergeant Ralph Lamar Hampton with the Army from Arcadia, Lance Corporal Larry Wayne Moreland with the Marine Corps from Arcadia, Private 1st Class Rodney Wayne Westcott with the Marine Corps from Arcadia. 

This event is open to the public with a special invitation extended to all veterans and their families.
