Bienville Parish schools are vying for one of the 28 slots in the Division IV playoffs. Both Arcadia and Ringgold are looking for different situations.
Arcadia (6-3) are facing winless Plain Dealing (0-9) at home. Arcadia is currently ranked No. 11 in the latest power rankings and has a strong case for a first round playoff game. The Hornets will not gain much with a win over the Lions but a loss could cause them to risk that home playoff game. Arcadia very likely will have to be on the road in the second with a win.
Ringgold (3-6) is on the other end fighting for a playoff spot. The Redskins are hanging onto the last rung of the 28 teams currently. They also have the situation of facing a team in Magnolia School of Excellence (1-8) that also is battling to get into the Division IV Select playoffs. The Mariners are currently at No. 27 in the Select Power Rankings and a win over the Redskins could push them over the No. 24 spot to reach the playoffs. Ringgold will need to break their five game slide in order to reach the playoffs. The Redskins, if they do make the playoffs, will have to travel to a Top-10 team in the first round which could very well be a local district opponent as Haynesville is currently at No. 4 and Homer is at No. 6. The 2023 Claiborne Parish Superbowl could have an impact on the Redskins’ playoffs.
Playoff brackets will be released on Sunday, November 5.
