The Town of Arcadia is searching for volunteers to participate in at least three committees formed by town council members.

They are Public Safety, Recreation and Town Beautification. On those committees are Michael Stephenson (Public Safety); Mario Jefferson, Brenda Dupree and Sylvia Dupree (Recreation); and Mario Jefferson and Sheryl Townsend (Town Beautification).

Productive committees help municipal councils function better. A committee’s role is primarily advisory. They are created to provide insight, information and recommendations to the council, but the council is not obligated to follow the committee’s recommendations.

These committees will serve for only a yearly basis and be re-nominated each year for council approval.

“We thank your council members for their recommendations of constituents to serve and appreciate our citizens for their willingness to serve,” Mayor O’Landis Millican said.
