Arcadia mayor’s, police chief’s family members fight after football game

The Friday night home game against Jonesboro-Hodge at Arcadia High was not the only battle happening at the school that evening.

According to Bienville Parish Sheriff John Ballance, there was a fight in the parking lot following an ongoing argument between the family of Arcadia Mayor O’Landis Millican and the family members of the Arcadia Chief of Police Ciera Murphy.

O’Landis’ sister was attacked with a stick by Murphy’s mother, Ballance said.

“The mayor’s sister and the mother and aunt of the chief of police got into a fight and the mother armed herself with some kind of stick and started whipping on the mayor’s sister’s head,” said Ballance. “The sheriff’s office was called, and we had people there anyway for security purposes and we were able to get them separated.”

The victim refused medical treatment.

According to Ballance, as of Monday morning there were no official charges against anyone involved, but the BPSO has a detailed report and video that will be submitted to the Bienville Parish District Attorney’s office.

It is still not clear at this time what caused the dispute.
