Bienville Parish Library invites adults to SADDLE UP for the August Movie Matinee: TRUE GRIT (1969). The movie matinee will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 1pm in the Large Event Room. Bring a bedroll and blanket; popcorn will be served.

It was a book before it was a movie, and this John Wayne classic, featuring Glen Campbell, Kim Darby, and newcomer Robert Duvall, is what BPL’ll be playing on the big screen in surround sound. The main character of Rooster Cogburn is loosely based on a U.S. Marshal in the Indian Territories. If anyone would like to read the book before the movie, BPL has a copy of both novels at the Main Library in Arcadia.
