The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) approved a Declaration of Emergency (DE) that will allow disabled veterans to use any legal weapon during primitive firearms season in each of Louisiana’s 10 Deer Areas during the 2025-26 hunting season. The action came during the commission’s September meeting Thursday (Sept. 4) in Baton Rouge.

Primitive firearms season begins in deer areas 3, 7, 8 and 10 on Oct. 11, in Deer Area 2 on Oct. 18 and the remaining deer areas on Nov. 8.
