The Bienville Parish Registrar of Voters recently issued a reminder to parish voters that now is the time to check their voter registration status as well as their party affiliation. May 16 will be a Closed Party Primary election. In a nutshell that means:
- Democrats may only vote for Democratic candidates.
- Republicans may only vote for Republican candidates.
- No Party voters will get to choose either Democrat, Republican or remain No Party and vote only on the amendments.
- Any other party affiliation will only vote on the amendments.
Races on this elections ballot include: US Senate, US Representative, Public Service Commissioner, and five (5) constitutional amendments.
Ringgold citizens (within the city limits only) will have a tax renewal on their ballot regardless of party affiliation.
As of Aug. 1, 2025, the Independent Party of Louisiana was abolished. All voters previously registered as an Independent are now registered as No Party. Bienville Parish currently has 1,795 No Party voters. Everyone of those voters will have to fill out a declaration form on election day prior to voting.
