BPSO to host 5K/Walk for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In honor of October being Domestic Violence Awareness month, the Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office is hosting its first Domestic Violence Awareness 5k Run/Walk on October 24, at 7am. The event will start and end at the Bienville Parish Courthouse. The goal is to raise awareness about domestic violence, support survivors, and help strengthen the resources available to victims in Bienville Parish.

In 2025, BPSO dispatchers and deputies responded to 86 Domestic Violence calls for service that ended in 68+ Incident Reports. In 2026, they responded to 39 Domestic Violence calls for service that have ended in 25+ Incident Reports. Through victim advocacy, BPSO has reached victims within Bienville Parish, and BPSO understands that community support can make a meaningful difference during an extremely difficult time.

D.A.R.T.- Bienville Parish is a major reason this support is possible. Their team goes above and beyond for victims throughout Bienville Parish in many different ways. Not only do they assist victims, but they also assist in training deputies on how to better respond to/assist victims who have been involved in a domestic violence incident. This event is an opportunity for the community to stand behind that work and help ensure victims continue to have access to support when they need it most. All remaining proceeds and donations will be given to D.A.R.T.- Bienville Parish.
