Castor Family Dollar/Dollar Tree Combo Store Holds Ribbon Cutting

On Saturday, July 3, 2021, Castor’s new Family Dollar/Dollar Tree Combo Store held their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting.

A DJ entertained the crowd with a wide selection of hit music while an artist provided face-paintings.

Following a heartfelt prayer and a beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, Castor’s Mayor Vicki Pickett spoke to the crowd.  Mayor Pickett said, “I’m so happy that they have chosen to hire so many local people.  That’s jobs.  Jobs that we needed.”  (Please see video below)

Ward 6 Police Juror Michael Nelson said “It’s bittersweet to me.  While we do not want any of our local businesses to suffer from corporate stores moving into our area, we do realize that most people in our town and rural areas drive several miles to shop at discount stores in other towns for many items.  This will bring some of that money back to benefit our town of Castor and Bienville Parish.  Hopefully, it will also let people see just how well our town is equipped to meet any need you may have.  Anything from hardware, lumber, fresh-cut meats to fast food, nutrition, and gas (2 locations) or a great sit down meal at the café.  You now can shop for anything you need for great prices at home!  Castor has it all!”
