Saline Marathon Runner Wins Monroe’s Jingle Bell Run

On Saturday, December 18, Monroe hosted its sixth Jingle Bell 5K and 10K run.  155 runners entered the 5K race.  Of those 155, Saline’s Donald Brown came in 36th overall with a time of 27.08 and an average speed of 6.9 miles per hour.  At 73-years-young, Mr. Brown took first place in his age group.

Mr. Brown is an experienced marathon runner. He races just about every weekend and has raced in over 130 half marathons so far.   A month ago, the Bienville Parish Journal ran this article on Mr. Brown after he won 2nd place in the Hot Springs Half Marathon.

The Monroe Jingle Bell Run raises funds to benefit more than 4,000 Local Scouting in Northeast & Central Louisiana through our At-Risk program, scholarships to Camp T.L. James and Camp Attakapas, direct and indirect support. It helps ensure that EVERY youth has the opportunity to be apart of a great organization that will develop our future leaders of tomorrow no matter what social background or economic status.

Congratulations, Mr. Brown, on your most recent win.  We look forward to news of your upcoming races.
