Arcadia Man Facing Drug Charges After Traffic Stop in Lincoln Parish

According to the Lincoln Parish Journal, a traffic stop early Monday morning led to the arrest of the driver on numerous drug and traffic charges.

At about 2 a.m., Sergeant James Ayers of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department observed a truck on U.S. 167 with green lights illuminated under the body of the vehicle. The driver, Joshua McDowell, 38, of Arcadia said he did not know the lights were on. A check of his driver’s license revealed it was suspended.

A search of the vehicle revealed a pill bottle containing suspected diazepam, a Schedule IV controlled substance. Also discovered were pantoprazole and sulindac, which are considered legend drugs.

McDowell was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for driving under suspension, illegal lighting on the vehicle, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and two counts of possession of a legend drug.

He has since been released on bail.
