Wednesday, March 2, 2022, BPSO Sgt. Rob McGill was working a speed enforcement detail on I-20 mile marker 65 eastbound when he clocked a vehicle driven by a Hispanic male later identified as Jessy Orozco, age 19, traveling at a speed of 87-70 mph zone.

Sgt. McGill attempted to stop the vehicle but Orozco fled eastbound to Exit 67 where he proceeded south on La. 9 to Martin Luther King and continued east on MLK to its intersection with Cypress St. in Arcadia.

Orozco attempted a right turn onto Cypress but was traveling too fast and made impact with the ditch.

Orozco was ordered from the vehicle and placed under arrest by Sgt. McGill.

BPSO dispatch reported that the vehicle was reported stolen from Fort Worth, TX and that Orozco was driving on a suspended license. He has a lengthy criminal history which includes burglary, theft and drugs and is presently on parole in Texas. Orozco stated his reason for fleeing was his fear of going back to prison.

His charges include:

  • Speeding,
  • Driving Under Suspension,
  • Illegal possession of stolen things, and
  • Aggravated flight from an officer

He has no bond at this time.
