Saline High School celebrated senior night Monday evening with a 7th inning win in the district game against Castor. The school held a celebration to recognize Tanner Blalock, Trey Hood, Ethan Roberts, and Briar Keiffer, four players who will graduate next month. The coaches presented the four seniors with gifts which included snacks and game balls signed by the coaches and players. Following the game, the school fed the seniors, their families and team.
It came down to the last play, but Castor Tigers Varsity was on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to Saline on Monday. The game was tied at five with Saline batting in the bottom of the seventh when Bryce Davis grounded out, scoring one run.
Castor Tigers Varsity lost despite out-hitting Saline eight to seven.
In the first inning, Castor Tigers Varsity got their offense started when Justice Rasbury grounded out, scoring one run.
Shawn Staggs toed the rubber for Saline. The hurler surrendered five runs on six hits over five innings, striking out four and walking one.
Brenden Cox started the game for Castor Tigers Varsity. The righthander lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out four. Drake Freeman threw three innings in relief.
Castor Tigers Varsity had eight hits in the game. Ethan Latour, Johnathan Warren, and Caleb Shirley all managed multiple hits for Castor Tigers Varsity. Latour led Castor Tigers Varsity with three hits in four at bats. Castor Tigers Varsity tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Warren led the way with two.
Saline collected seven hits on the day. Braxton Davis and Will Dison each collected multiple hits for Saline. Saline stole 13 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Jacob Jones led the way with four.
