Come Celebrate Spring with Tablescapes at the Jonquil Jubilee 2023!

Local table-top designers will feature a tribute to daffodils throughout numerous themed presentations.

The featured artist for Tablescapes this year will be Loretta Shadow Owens of Ruston, LA.  The award-winning artist has been featured in art exhibits and one-woman shows.  Upcoming works may be viewed in September 2023 in a museum show in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Loretta Shadow Owens began painting in 1989, at the age of 40.  She enjoys working in both water media and oils, and has a passion for the process of drawing and painting.  Her paintings and drawings sometimes cause smiles and even laughter among fellow artists and outsider viewers.  Her debut showing of her art works was in May, 2001 at the Townsend House during the Spring Artist Studio Tour in Ruston, LA. Her drawing of Christ was published in a teaching book about compositions produced by M. Douglas Walton.

Loretta holds two BS degrees from Louisiana Tech University, Home Economics Education and Animal Science.  She also earned a MS from the University of Tennessee.  She has studied at University of Hawaii, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, and has studied in Europe on an extensive fashion and textiles tour with Stout State University, Menomonie, WI.

From a young age Loretta was interested in the arts. She excels in commercial stitch art and calligraphic works featuring Bible verses, prayers, poems and sayings.  Loretta is known for fabulous flower arrangements.  She incorporates native flowers and greenery with unique flair.  She worked as an Extension Home Economist from 1971 to 1973 in LaSalle Parish.  

She was the first to receive the award for Outstanding Young Woman in Ruston, LA.  She was vice president or Ruston Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Inc.  

She is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and serves as a Lay Speaker on occasion at Gibsland and Oak Grove Methodist Churches.
