Funeral arrangements have been made for Jaquasia, the 10-year-old who passed away after her and her mother, Shondace Love, were struck by a vehicle in Ringgold this past Tuesday.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on February 11 at Mt. Zion Church in Ringgold, La. The visiting hours will be from 4-6 p.m. on February 10 at Memorial Funeral Home.
Mayor of the Town of Ringgold Milton Vining shared his condolences on a Facebook post Wednesday morning.
He said, “The Town of Ringgold expresses our sincerest condolences for the unexpected loss of one of our own that occurred last night. Jaquasia was a precious young girl and well-loved by her family, school, and community. Please keep her family, friends, everyone involved, and our town in your thoughts and prayers. Words cannot adequately express the immense pain and sorrow that has grappled our town within the past few months. If there was ever a time that we needed love and unity, it is now. May God’s peace and comfort abide and lead us through the hard days ahead.”
Many friends, family and teachers of Jaquasia shared their memories along with prayers for the family.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A mother and her young daughter were struck by a vehicle yesterday evening, January 31.
Ringgold Police Department responded to the scene of the accident on School Street (Highway 154).
Shondace Love, age 30, and her daughter were transported by EMS to Oschner Health Hospital in Shreveport where the child later succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The mother is in stable condition.
The female driving the vehicle that hit Love and her daughter stopped and contacted local authorities.
Ringgold Police Department Captain Michael Gillie said, “The young lady was treated and remained on the scene while the investigation was being conducted. She was very cooperative.”
Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police and Bienville Parish Coroner’s Office were the assisting agencies in this accident.
This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be available pending toxicology and lab results. No charges have been filed at this time.
