For years, flooding along the Hazel Street corridor has been a major concern for Arcadia residents and businesses. At one point, continued flooding even put the town in jeopardy of losing major businesses along the corridor, including Brookshire’s.
The Town of Arcadia was awarded approximately $4.765 million through the Louisiana Watershed Initiative for the Hazel Street Flood Mitigation Project, one of the largest single grant awards in Arcadia’s history.
This project will help address flooding along Hazel Street, benefit residents in the Madden Street subdivision, reduce downstream flooding, while also beautifying key areas along the Hazel Street corridor.
