Yesterday, March 31, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that the LA-4 Bridge over “Drain,” near Friendship, in Bienville Parish, is now open.
Janie Renae, who lives in sight of the bridge, posted on her Facebook page, “The bridge at my house really is open. It’s not complete but they’ve opened it to traffic. It’s just gravel so need to take it easy. I’m guessing they will close it again to pave it eventually.”
Janie said, “It’s been an experience having a front row view watching people during this ordeal. We’ve seen barricades moved. Motorcycles wind their way through. People have come to a screeching halt like they didn’t even notice the many signs leading up to it and didn’t know it was there. My nephew has pulled out multiple vehicles that tried to go through the ditches to get around and got stuck. We’ve seen someone attempt to get on equipment and move it out of their way and the road crew catch them doing it which resulted in them jumping off and running. It’s been fun. 😂”
