Thursday, March 30

Double Header against Captain Shreve

Game One-

Castor Lady Tigers Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-0 loss to Captain Shreve Gators Varsity on Thursday.  Captain Shreve Gators Varsity scored on a walk by Ella Hendrick and a single by Jayda Martin in the first inning.

The Castor Lady Tigers Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Captain Shreve Gators Varsity, giving up 12 runs.

Captain Shreve Gators Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning, when Hendrick drew a walk, scoring one run.

One bright spot for Castor Lady Tigers Varsity was a single by K Shirley in the first inning.

Hendrick was in the circle for Captain Shreve Gators Varsity. The righty went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out ten and walking one.

E Keel led things off in the circle for Castor Lady Tigers Varsity. The pitcher went three and a third innings, allowing 12 runs on four hits.  Shirley threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.

S Stroud, Shirley, and A Collingsworth each collected one hit to lead Castor Lady Tigers Varsity.

Captain Shreve Gators Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Aubry Townsend had  ten chances in the field, the most on the team.

Game Two-

Thursday’s game against Captain Shreve Gators Varsity was a heartbreaker for Castor Lady Tigers Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 17-7 defeat.  The game was tied at four with Captain Shreve Gators Varsity batting in the top of the fourth when an error scored one run for Captain Shreve Gators Varsity.

Despite the loss, Castor Lady Tigers Varsity did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Captain Shreve Gators Varsity had 16 hits on the way to victory.

Captain Shreve Gators Varsity got on the board in the first inning when Aubry Townsend singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Castor Lady Tigers Varsity scored three runs in the fifth inning.  Castor Lady Tigers Varsity big bats were led by A Jordan, M Cooper, and K Jones, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Captain Shreve Gators Varsity scored seven runs in the fifth inning.  Townsend, Jayda Martin,  Meagan Hill, Lauren Simpkins, Maggie Guy, and Morgan Cyphers powered the big inning with RBIs.

Martin got the start for Captain Shreve Gators Varsity. The righthander went five innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and striking out four.

A Collingsworth started the game for Castor Lady Tigers Varsity. The bulldog went four and a third innings, allowing 16 runs on 16 hits and striking out two.  E Keel threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.

Castor Lady Tigers Varsity socked one home run on the day. K Shirley went yard in the third inning.

Castor Lady Tigers Varsity totaled eight hits.  A Johnson, Shirley, and Collingsworth all managed multiple hits for Castor Lady Tigers Varsity.  Collingsworth, Shirley, and Johnson each managed two hits to lead Castor Lady Tigers Varsity.

Captain Shreve Gators Varsity tallied 16 hits on the day.  Townsend, Ella Hendrick, Martin, Guy, and Simpkins all collected multiple hits for Captain Shreve Gators Varsity.  Townsend went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Captain Shreve Gators Varsity in hits.

Tuesday, April 4

E Keel threw a shutout to lead Castor Lady Tigers Varsity past Doyline 15-0 on Tuesday.

A Myers led Castor Lady Tigers Varsity to victory by driving in four runs.  Myers went 2-for-3 at the plate.  Myers drove in runs on a double in the first and a triple in the second.

Castor Lady Tigers Varsity got on the board in the first inning.  Castor Lady Tigers Varsity scored two runs when Myers doubled.

Castor Lady Tigers Varsity tallied seven runs in the fourth inning.  The big inning was thanks to an error on a ball put in play by A Collingsworth and J Braggs, a single by M Cooper, a home run by K Shirley, and a groundout by A Jordan.

A single by #13 in the first inning was a positive for Doyline.

Keel toed the rubber for Castor Lady Tigers Varsity. The ace lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out four.

#25 was on the rubber for Doyline. The pitcher went three innings, allowing eight runs on five hits and striking out one.  #3 threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Castor Lady Tigers Varsity smacked two home runs on the day. Shirley had a four bagger in the fourth inning. Keel went yard in the second inning.

Castor Lady Tigers Varsity racked up ten hits.  Myers and Keel all managed multiple hits for Castor Lady Tigers Varsity.  Keel and Myers each collected two hits to lead Castor Lady Tigers Varsity.  Castor Lady Tigers Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cooper had the most chances in the field with five.

#13 went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Doyline in hits.

The Lady Tigers will play their next game tomorrow, April 6, at Weston. The game will begin at 4 p.m.

Saline High School:

Scorekeepers were kept busy today during a high-scoring contest between Lady Bobcats and Southwood where Lady Bobcats prevailed 20-10.

Lady Bobcats got things started in the first inning when Jordan Williams doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the first inning, Southwood tied things up at five.  K. Dinkins drew a walk, scoring one run.

Lady Bobcats pulled away for good with ten runs in the second inning.  In the second an error scored one run for Lady Bobcats, Alaya Gray doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Aly Fine singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Sydney Thomas was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Adysen Breeland drew a walk, scoring one run, Williams drew a walk, scoring one run, Gray drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jaydan Williams singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Fine was in the pitcher’s circle for Lady Bobcats. The righty surrendered five runs on one hit over one inning, striking out two.

K. Bananno was on the rubber for Southwood. The bulldog allowed eight hits and 20 runs over five innings, striking out six.

Lady Bobcats racked up eight hits in the game.  Fine, Gray, and Williams all collected multiple hits for Lady Bobcats.  Williams, Gray, and Fine each managed two hits to lead Lady Bobcats.

Southwood saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game.  B. Shepard and M. McDavid each managed multiple hits for Southwood.

Gibsland-Coleman High School:

On Monday, April 3, the Lady Bulldogs played the Arcadia Hornets. They won the game 16-5, making this their fifth win in a row. Unfortunately that streak was broken yesterday. The Lady Bulldogs fell short against Simsboro, losing 5-9.
